We Were Born To Love

Before we learned to compete…
Before we learned to protect ourselves…
Before we built identities, titles, and reputations…
We knew how to love. Not the version of love that seeks approval, control, or validation. But the kind that is open. Present. Unconditional. Watch a child. They don’t calculate love. They don’t negotiate it. They are it.
Somewhere along the way, we learned to build walls. We learned to withhold. To protect. To measure what we give against what we receive. And in doing so, we didn’t become stronger. We became disconnected. Because love is not something we generate. It’s something we allow.
Love is the highest expression of emotional intelligence.
It shows up in how we listen. In how we respond under pressure. In how we choose understanding over judgment. And presence over control. In business, we often avoid the word “love.” It feels too soft. Too personal. Too vulnerable. But look deeper. Trust is built on it. Loyalty is sustained by it. Great leadership expresses it.
The leaders who create the most value are not the ones who demand performance. They are the ones who create environments where people feel seen, heard, and safe. That’s love in action.
When we lower our walls, something shifts. We stop reacting from fear. We start responding with awareness. We become less attached to outcomes and more connected to people. Ironically, this is when results improve. Because people don’t give their best to pressure. They give their best to connection.
We were never meant to live in constant defense. We were born to create. To connect. To trust. We were born to love. And when we return to that we don’t just change our relationships. We change our results. We change our organizations. We change our lives.
The question isn’t whether love belongs in leadership.
The question is what happens when it’s missing.
